Engine: 4.2L I-6 (#’s matching)
Condition: Restoration Project (Partially complete)
Classic Investments recently acquired this unique 4.2L E-Type when the owner decided to retire in the midst of a complete restoration. This vehicle was originally purchased by a U.S. military serviceman who was stationed in Germany at the time. When his deployment was over, he had the car shipped in the belly of the boat on which he rode when he returned home.
An original left hand drive European car, the German government had some otherwise unusual regulations for vehicles that were produced within, or imported to Germany. This example has a particularly unique feature for an XKE: a locking steering column.
Back in the states, this car was driven very sparingly and shows only 20,580 miles. A running and driving example until just under two years ago when the most recent owner decided to perform a frame off restoration. As it sits now, it is an entirely disassembled non roller, extremely complete with all original parts. The doors and front clip are all intact and very straight with a decent respray of the original color. The body has been blasted, is near ready for primer and is superbly straight. The original 4.2L engine and 4-speed gearbox are immaculate and period correct. Complete original interior is in excellent condition with no fade, tears, cracks or loose wool. We have not seen an interior this immaculate in many years!
This is an excellent candidate vehicle for someone with the time and resources needed to complete a full project. We are also pleased to negotiate a partial restoration of this vehicle for an interested buyer. For inquiries on terms and prices, please contact Stephen Bell here.
*Heritage Certificate will be available with the purchase of this vehicle.
