The Chevrolet 3100 pickup is one of the most iconic American truck platforms ever built, and it has become a favorite in the hot rod world for good reason. Its clean body lines, unmistakable stance, and classic postwar design make it the perfect canvas for a modern performance build. When a 3100 is upgraded with a serious chassis, modern V8 power, performance suspension, and big brakes, it delivers the look of a vintage truck with the power, handling, and road manners enthusiasts actually want.
This 1947-1954 Chevrolet 3100 is a world-class project professionally engineered by the experts at Ron Jones Garage. This build was designed for elite performance rather than just aesthetics. The project focuses on modern drivability and an aggressive stance, achieved through extensive custom metal fabrication and industry-leading performance components.
The foundation is a Roadster Shop Spec Chassis equipped with a 9-inch rear end and 3.70 Tru-Trac Posi. Power is delivered by a 6.2L LS3 V8 producing 525 horsepower, finished with Ultimate LS Headers and Magnaflow XL Mufflers, managed by a 4L70E 4-speed automatic transmission. The suspension utilizes premium Penske Coilovers, while stopping power is provided by a Wilwood 4-wheel disc brake system. The truck sits on custom Schott Wheels (19×9 front / 20×11 rear) wrapped in high-performance Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.
The project is currently at the “finish line” stage, with all major mechanical and structural work completed to a master-level standard. The body features hundreds of hours of professional fabrication on the firewall, tunnel, hood, fenders, and bed. To bring this build to 100% completion, the next owner will need to oversee the final wiring, install the front and rear glass, and select a custom interior, including the headliner, door cards, and carpeting.
