The Maserati Ghibli was designed at Ghia in Torino by a young designer named Giorgetto Giugiaro–This example was found literally in a barn 10 miles outside Lincoln, Nebraska in 2006 by Stephen Bell.

The previous owner and his mistress were passing through Nebraska while journeying from New York to Las Vegas, when mechanical trouble laid them up near Lincoln. They decided to ask to leave the car with the owner of a local repair shop. When the owners didn’t return, the repair shop sent the car to a storage facility… where it remained for the next 30 years! When Stephen Bell spoke to the gentleman who had been “storing” the vehicle for the owners over the last three decades, he mentioned that he had finally tracked down the brother of the owner in India and was told that the owner was deceased and the brother had no interest in “that car.” The kind owner of the storage lot was able to get the appropriate documents signed and sent over and Stephen Bell became the proud, second owner of this first-year Italian GT monster for just $5,000.00.

In 2009, Steve decided it had been sitting long enough and work soon began on a major cosmetic and mechanical restoration. The New York plates were hiding a secret, however, as underneath them sat the original Italian plates revealing the original owner had lived in Torino with this very car!

The work performed by the staff at Classic Investments has led this car to win numerous awards at some of the most prestigious events around the region.
